Innovative and effective ways
to develop and improve your numeracy strategy.
This is an exciting, interactive and highly original
one-day programme, designed to give participants a
wealth of new ideas for improving numeracy through
Accelerated Learning, while still meeting the requirements
of the NNS.
Throughout
the day the course trainer models AL theory, demonstrating
practical exercises in an engaging and memorable way.
You will leave the course with an abundance of tools
and techniques that can be applied as soon as you return
to your classroom.
Each participant receives a full portfolio
of tried and tested exercises, complete with photocopiable
resources for use in the classroom, a detailed description
of how to run each exercise, and an explanation of how
each exercise applies AL theory. The ideas and exercises
are extensive, and include proven methods for teaching:
- Fractions
- Place value
- Angles
- Area & volume
- Shapes - reflection, translation, rotation
- Drawing to scale
- Solving equations
- Graphs
The strategies
covered in Alite for Numeracy are also proven to work
with both KS3 and KS4 students of all levels of ability.
The course will provide you with at least two dozen
exciting and imaginative ways to help youngsters to
understand some of the more challenging mathematical
concepts, including:
- highly effective ways for learning place value
- VAK approaches for understanding angles, area, volume
and graphs
- innovative ways for solving equations
- cross-curricular methods for learning fractions
- engaging and absorbing ways for learning about shapes
and drawing to scale
