Innovative and effective ways to develop and improve
your numeracy strategy.
This is an exciting, interactive and highly original
one-day programme, designed to give participants a
wealth of new ideas for improving numeracy through
Accelerated Learning, while still meeting the requirements
of the NNS.
Throughout the day the course trainers model AL theory,
demonstrating practical exercises in an engaging and
memorable way. You will leave the course with an abundance
of tools and techniques that can be applied as soon
as you return to your classroom.
The strategies covered in Alite for Numeracy are proven
to work with both KS3 and KS4 students of all levels
of ability. The course will provide you with at least
two dozen exciting and imaginative ways to help youngsters
to understand some of the more challenging mathematical
concepts, including:
- highly effective ways for learning place value
- VAK approaches for understanding angles, area,
volume and graphs
- innovative ways for solving equations
- cross-curricular methods for learning fractions
- engaging and absorbing ways for learning about
shapes and drawing to scale
Each participant receives a full portfolio of tried
and tested exercises, complete with photocopiable resources
for use in the classroom, a detailed description of
how to run each exercise, and an explanation of how
each exercise applies AL theory. The ideas and exercises
are extensive, and include proven methods for teaching:
- Fractions
- Place value
- Angles
- Area & volume
- Shapes - reflection, translation, rotation
- Drawing to scale
- Solving equations
- Graphs

extraordinary success in this field is well documented.
Chris brings a wealth of personal experience
and success to his training, as well as a refreshing,
lively personality that really brings the subject alive.
Alite for
Numeracy takes place as a public course at a number
of venues throughout the UK. The course may also
be booked as an INSET for 20 - 100 delegates from a
single school or a cluster. The strategies and techniques
outlined in the programme are ideal for use across the
11-18 age range, and with youngsters of all ability.
