Emotional Intelligence
Intensive Training for Lead Learners in Emotional Intelligence
This course is designed for teachers who wish to enhance
their knowledge and skills in supporting the personal and
social development of their pupils. They need to be willing
to explore Emotional Intelligence both from the young person's
perspective and their own. They will be expected to undertake
action research, to share and disseminate their findings
and skills with colleagues and become lead teachers of
emotional literacy.
Programme Format
Each cohort of participants will undertake 6 training
days over the life of the project. The days are paired
and will run over 3 terms. Each participant will be expected
to attend all training days. Between each pair of training
days participants will undertake action research, with
feedback and dissemination an integral part of their commitment
to the programme.
The programme is designed to thoroughly familiarise participants
with the fundamentals and methodologies of Emotional Intelligence
for use in school. Links will be made to Accelerated Learning
in order that the two programmes complement and support
developments. Participants will be prepared for going back
into school and applying the learning. Opportunities for
presenting their research findings will be an integral
part of the programme.
