Making it Happen (MiH)
MiH: the Personal Insight Programme
MiH is a personal insight programme which provides intelligent tools to help
you understand patterns of behaviour in your life and, should you wish to,
change those patterns for the better. MiH will not make you richer or more
influential, but it will help you become more insightful, particularly about
yourself. MiH draws from diverse perspectives, it recognises the complexity
of any personal change and has a powerful learning model embedded throughout.
Making it Happen is a personal 'insight' programme. We
use the word insight because change must come from within.
To be meaningful and lasting, a programme of training can
do no more than help participants look at themselves afresh.
MiH gives you tools and perspectives to look again at the
habits of mind and their related behaviours which have
been developed over the years and, should you wish to,
make changes to those habits.
Talking your language
MiH is strongly rooted in the science of human motivation and learning. However,
it is designed to be accessible to any adult who wants to make positive changes
in their life. We don't use jargon, and we never make things seem more complicated
than they need to be. If you simply want to know how to change your life
for the better, we'll provide you with the tools without burdening you with
the science.
Real lives
We provide six different case studies as well as additional support material.
The stories told through the case studies are those of adults who have struggled
with significant change at some point in their life. We use the case studies
as source video material for the programme. The variety of perspectives grounds
our programme in everyday reality.
Uses proven learning methods
MiH was originated and designed by Alistair Smith who is recognised as the
UK's leading trainer in accelerated and brain-based learning. The MiH programme
models the learning methods and techniques that Alistair has developed. It
uses a 4-Stage Learning Cycle both for the design and the delivery of the
programme. The learning methods have been proven to work, and are now used
with great success in training establishments, schools and colleges throughout
the world. Through these methods, you will find the programme engaging and
entertaining, and the content easy to assimilate.
Cross-cultural outlook
Wherever you work and live, you will find that MiH takes into account the needs
and challenges of your area. The programme has been assembled by a team of
highly experienced practitioners, who have themselves lived and worked in
diverse environments. They bring to the programme a rich breadth of experience
which reflects the complexity of life in modern Britain.
Iintelligent, relevant exercises
The programme is interspersed with a variety of exercises and activities. These
have been carefully designed to link directly to the learning points of the
programme. Any activity in which you take part will contribute directly to
your learning.
Leading-edge research
At Alite we make leading-edge research accessible to a wide audience. The programme
is based on an up-to-the-minute understanding of the psychology of motivation
and of thought. We do not believe that any development programme should be
a static, finished composition - it evolves and develops to take account
of the results of current research.
Flexible, modular structure
MiH consists of nine modules, each lasting approximately 90 minutes. They can
be taken as a 3 day course, or as nine separate sessions. Some organisations
may prefer to run one twilight session per week for 9 weeks. Each module
is supported by a video component through which our case studies are presented.
On-line support
Once you have completed the first 3 modules of the MiH programme, you can access
the discussion forum on our website. Here, you can exchange experiences with
others who are following the programme, and discuss your progress with our
qualified trainers.
Easily transferred from the training room into
your life
We make sure that your learning does not stop when you leave the training room.
As a participant on the programme you will receive the tools to help you to
put the techniques into practice straight away.
