L2 - Phase 2

This outstanding resource extends and develops the themes of Phase 1:

  • Develops independent learning skills
  • Provides a unique personalised approach to learning
  • Improves exam technique, memory and research skills
  • Helps deliver Citizenship and Enterprise requirements
  • Comes with over 200 interactive resources

The format of Phase 2 follows the Knowledge, Skills, Attributes structure of L2 Phase 1.

Phase 2 comprises the following Modules:

Module 4, I Learner: Peak Performer

I Learner - Peak Performer’s purpose is to help students develop further insights into how they learn, how they are motivated and how they might perform better in anxiety situations such as public tests. Module 4 builds on the first Module – I Learner. This Module develops further understanding of individual attributes through the I Learn2 learning knowledge profiler. By the end of the I Learner - Peak Performer Module students will have investigated and evaluated a range of learning preferences, made judgements about which learning methods are appropriate in different situations, found out what helps and what hinders formal learning and practised memory and test techniques. The I Learner - Peak Performer Module is capable of standing on its own as an in depth preparation for improving test performance but is most effective when completed after Module 1 – I Learner and after the students have become familiar with their learning knowledge profiler.

Module 5, Team Learner: Learning Alongside Others

The purpose of this Module is to help students develop insights into what they can contribute to any group or team, how to value and respect differences in themselves and others and how to handle complex decision-making. The Module develops an awareness of what a community is, how communities can serve the needs of those who live in them and how to benefit from living in a community. Module 5 builds on Module 2 – Team Learner. The Module uses the I Relate2 learning attributes profiler. It also develops awareness of how teams work through problem solving Tryouts and the detailed debriefing which follows. We use the term team Tryout to describe any challenge that requires students to test themselves as a team. By the end of this Module students will have found out more about themselves and the factors which shape their personalities, used this information to better understand the members of a diverse community, learned several problem solving tools and used them in an extended team Tryout. Team Learner - Learning Alongside Others will help deliver both the enterprise and citizenship components of the National Curriculum. Students can expect to spend considerable time in this Module ‘developing skills of enquiry and communication’ and will complete an extended challenge or Team Tryout which ‘develops skills of participation and responsible action.’

Module 6, 21st Century Learner: A New Beginning

21st Century Learner - A New Beginning’s purpose is to help students develop further insights into how they learn, how they think, how they research, and how they use Information Communication Technology to communicate their ideas and to research and organise information. Module 6 builds on Module 3 – 21st Century Learner. Module 3 develops an understanding of how individuals think and the ‘thinking’ tools they can use through the I Think2 profiler. In this Module students will begin to make use of the graphic organisers and thinking tools they were introduced to in Module 3. They will review and put into practise the research skills they were taught and communicate their ideas effectively using ICT. By the end of the 21st Century Learner - A New Beginning Module students will have researched three contemporary 21st Century issues in the context of planning a new world/society in which to live; chosen and used a number of thinking tools to organise and analyse information; and used Information Communication Technology to present their ideas to a live audience.
