Embedding and Spreading the L2 Approach
Would you like some help in moving to the next stage of your L2 Journey? It
could be help embedding the knowledge, skills and attributes of L2 into the
teaching and learning of a wider range of departments or into school systems
and structures or spreading the L2 approach across the school so every
teacher becomes a learning to learn teacher.
We are delighted to be able to offer a consultancy service which you can tailor
to your needs.
As an example, we could help you with:
- planning for the development, progression, monitoring and evaluating
of your L2 initiative
- training of staff across the school in the L2 approach
- embedding the L2 approach into schools systems and structures such
as assessment, reporting, rewards and lesson planning
- how L2 can assist in delivering SEAL, ECM and PLTS in the school
- how to involve student voice more in learning
- engaging parents through learning to learn
- spreading the L2 approach to feeder primary schools and post 16
providers
- preparing for Ofsted - what will they be looking for in terms of quality of
teaching and learning in the classroom?
This one day consultancy is designed to be a flexible and bespoke package
for each school. You may select areas from the above menu that are most
relevant or appropriate and also suggest other areas of focus you would like
the consultant to cover.
The day could include:
- a meeting with the SLT member responsible for L2 on development
planning, staff training, engaging student voice and parents in learning,
links with feeder primaries, Ofsted preparation as well as monitoring
and evaluating impact of L2.
- a meeting with the L2 Coordinator on staff training, materials, teaching
resources, classroom layout and learning display, planning for
development and strategies to spread the L2 approach to other subject
areas as well as monitor and evaluate the impact of L2.
- a meeting with L2 teaching team or subject team interested in
developing an L2 approach on effective L2 pedagogy in the classroom,
L2 materials and support resources as well as practical advice and tips.
As part of the consultancy package, schools will receive guidance documents
from Alite on the L2 Development Journey, L2 Pedagogy, L2 Support,
Monitoring and Evaluating L2.
To really embed and spread L2 across the school and get evaluative
feedback plus guidance on your L2 Journey, you can add a one day follow up
visit to your consultancy package
This follow up visit, arranged at an appropriate time in the school year, could
include:
- classroom observation of L2 lessons with feedback
- interviews with students following the course
- interviews and discussions with staff teaching the L2 course and those
who use the L2 approach in their lessons
- Analysis of schemes of work and lesson plans using the L2 approach
- meeting with SLT member responsible for L2 reviewing L2
development, management across the school and monitoring and
evaluation
- meeting with L2 Coordinator for a review and evaluation of progress
and development
- a School Visit Report summarising the consultants findings and
including suggestions for future development.
Again this follow up visit can be tailored to the needs and focus of each
school
From our experience working with many schools across the country, this
follow up visit, added to the one day consultancy, has helped to maintain real
impetus and direction to L2 development.
