Heather Hamer

Heather Hamer believes that every child deserves an education which excites in them the desire to become a lifelong learner, and provides them with the practical skills to fulfil their potential.

Heather took a traditional path through grammar school and university, partially funded by stints as a nanny, a groom, and an English ‘assistante’ in a French secondary school.  For her first full-time job, Heather perfected her curtsey and joined BAA’s special facilities team, looking after diplomats and heads of state travelling through Heathrow Airport.

Heather then entered the business world as a wide-eyed graduate trainee at British Airways. She learnt a huge amount through BA’s pioneering fast track training programme, and in roles within contract management, catering and engineering. She then joined the Institute for International Research, working in a variety of research and management roles, and latterly as Head of Group Marketing.

When Heather met Alistair Smith she was struck by the forceful simplicity of his mission to ‘expand the horizons of possibility' of all those with whom he worked. She joined forces with Alistair in 2001 to help to bring his model of learning to a wider audience.
